Alfred Ray Groves, 88, of Otway, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Rest Haven Nursing Home.  He was born November 22, 1932 in Otway to the late Albert Jacob Groves and Grace Ellen Townsend Groves.  On August 12, 1951 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Hunter Groves who preceded him in death.  Surviving are his children, Patty (Mark) Miller of Otway, Kathy Groves of Otway, John (Carolyn) Groves of Otway and Daniel (Jessica) Groves; brothers, Ed (Kay) Groves of Rarden and Richard (Linda) Groves of Rarden; a sister, Ellen Fern Thompson of Otway; nine grandchildren, Tiffany (Shawn) Sparks, Jeremy (Karmin) Miller, Becky (Mark) Maddy, Joe (Ashlee) Clay, Megan (Cory) Miller, Jonathan Groves, Zachary (Sassy) Groves, Jacob Groves and Daniel Groves; and eleven great-grandchildren; and in ten days was expecting his first great-great grandchild.  In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Jason Miller, Dylan Groves and Amanda Groves and two brothers, Robert and Harry Groves.

Alfred loved his family, enjoyed raising tobacco and loved a good fox race.

Graveside service will held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2021 at U.P. Cemetery in Otway with Mark Miller officiating.
