Anna Jean Kates Gardner, 94, of Rarden, Ohio passed away Friday, July 15, 2022.  She was born November 11, 1927 in Rarden to the late Jim and Banna Kates.  Surviving are her daughter, Kristina Adams and husband David of Waverly, Ohio; twin grandsons, retired Army Captain Todd Adams of Waverly and Brian Adams of Newton Falls, Ohio; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 nephews and 2 nieces.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert Gardner and her sister, Olive.

Anna Jean served as mayor of Rarden for 25 years.  She had been an active member of the Rarden Methodist Church and community.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Rarden Community Church.  Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at the church.
