Obituary

Benjamin Ira Penn, 87, of Piketon, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2022 at Pike Adena Hospital.  He was born February 20, 1935 in Pike County, Ohio to the late Albert Cyrus Penn and Anna Opal Williams Penn.  On June 19, 1954 he was united in marriage to Thelma Jean Ford Penn who survives.  Also surviving are his three children, Benny W Penn and wife Pat, Brenda Pfeifer and husband Doug and Barry Penn and wife Becky; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Kyle Penn, Travis, Bryan and Dustin Pfeifer, Mckenzie Swango and Caleb Penn; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kyla, Abby, Riley and Brooklyn Penn, Sara Pfeifer, Bailey Shephard, Andrew Pfeifer, Lorren Wicker, Clay, Emmitt, Collan and Brynlee Pfeifer, Raegan and Truett Swango, and Lilly and Oliver Penn; and a great-great grandson, Brayson Shephard.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dale and Robert Penn; a sister, Lillie Mae Newland; an infant sister; and stepmother, Gracie Penn.

As a young man Benny worked in timber and as a heavy machine operator.  He later ran a family feed and grain store and was later back into the family timber business.  Benny was a big fisherman and looked forward to his yearly Canada trips with his family, grandsons, great-grandkids, his brother Bob, friends, Glen McGuire, Junior Legg, Runt Silcott and anybody else he could con into going.  He also enjoyed hunting in his day and there was hardly ever a time that he didn't have a story to tell if you ran into him.  He attended Pleasant Valley Community Church in Jasper.

The family would like to offer a big thank you to the staff at Pike Adena Hospital, Adena Hospice and Adena Pike Rehab.  They were all so supportive and patient with the whole family.
