Betty Lou Rhea Remy, 96 of Waverly, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 10 after a beautiful long life filled with love and her devoted family. Betty is survived by her three sons Bill (Linda), Don Alan (Karen), and Randy (Sheri) Remy of Waverly, eight grandchildren, Cindi, Jodi, Josh (Melinda), Lori (Nat), Shane (Erin), Jason (Lindsay), Rheadon (Jenna), Davis (Paige), 17 great grandchildren Grace (Philip), Abigail (Christian), Maggi, Ainsley, Hannah, Ava, Will, Rachel, Landon, Addison, Emma, Millie, Nash, Matias, Brooks, Nolan, and Baylor, and two great-great grandchildren Palmer and Beckett.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years Don Remy, her parents William and Nellie Grace Rhea, sister Becky Runkle, and brother Wayne Rhea.

Born on the Fourth of July 1928, Betty and her husband Don attended 12 years of school together and were married on May 28, 1947 after graduating from Beaver High School. Betty and Don cherished their friendships from Beaver and enjoyed attending the yearly alumni banquets.

Don and Betty moved to Waverly where they started the first Remy's Car Lot in Green Acres and eventually opened Remy's Chrysler Plymouth where they shared great success and enjoyed supporting community programs like the Waverly Athletic Boosters. Betty worked alongside her husband in their many business endeavors providing support, wisdom, and more than likely the voice of reason. Their partnership created a great success that allowed their family to spend summers camping, traveling, enjoying Lake White and Christmas visits to her parents in Florida.

In retirement Betty and Don enjoyed traveling, especially a good cruise, and spending winters in Florida. Betty loved to remodel homes, and was always looking for a new challenge and left every house she purchased even more grand than it was before. Betty enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all their activities and was always proudly in the stands or the audience at their events. As she grew older and couldn't make it she was quick to text if you didn't provide her an update, and just a few years ago got on Facebook to keep up with all her grandchildren and their growing families.

Betty's many interests were a blessing to all who knew her. She could cook a meal that always left you wanting more, raise a garden that produced the best vegetables, sew clothes that rivaled any store, and crochet, knit, and quilt the finest blankets that are treasured by the loved ones they were made for.

Whether she was baking peanut butter or chocolate chip cookies for her grandkids that would eventually find their way to college for their friends, keeping scorebook for one of Don's softball or basketball teams, making popcorn in the Booster's concession stand, or sharing her homemade relish at Jake's Park, Betty was not just loved by her family, but everyone who met her.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Josh Remy officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Bridge Street.  Family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
