Obituary

Candace Lynn Bowser, 79 of Bunnell, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at her home. She was born on October, 1, 1946 in Chillicothe to the late Arnett Frederick Hurless and Mary Ellen Lindsay Hurless. Candy is survived by her husband Daniel and best friend of 24 years, and in Dan’s words, “Losing your wife hurts deeply and when your wife is also your constant partner in living and trying to figure out the world and the great mysteries of life it hurts even more. She was funny and made me smile far more often than the times she frustrated me. I never wanted to lose her. She was generous, giving what she could to various charities and to homeless people. We attended “Bridges United Methodist Church” in Bunnell, Florida and believe in following Jesus. She was very proud of having been a construction worker on the expansion of the Orlando International Airport earlier in life. She made our old “Mid-Century Modern” house a real home. She loved animals, especially dogs, squirrels, and horses and one cat named “Max”. Our dog of many years “Buffy”. She never got over the loss. She feared snakes but would sing to the many lizards around our home. The world has lost a ray of sunshine, but heaven has gained one. We had a lot more plans in this life, but God took her to heaven.” In addition to her husband she is survived by her step-children; Jennifer (Danny) Raulerson, Brian (Samantha) Bowser and Patrick (Priscilla) Bowser; grandchildren, Sophia L Raulerson, Christian Raulerson, Caleb D Bowser and Aaron G Bowser; a sister, Pam (Oren) Leslie and Jimmy Ackley. In addition to her parents, Candace was preceded in death by her son, Edward Roy Locke, Jr. and her bothers Garry Arnett Hurless and Ron Hurless.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will follow in Leslie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
