Carl Eugene Hines, 59, of Piketon, Ohio passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth.  He was born July 7, 1962 in Waverly, Ohio to Ronald and Carol Jones Hines who survives.  Also surviving are his wife, Kelly West Hines of Piketon; children, Lee Patrick (Samantha Dailey) West of Bexley, Ohio and Emily Brooke Hines of Piketon; brother, Kevin Scott (Kim) Hines of Waverly; father-in-law, Teddy L. West of Piketon; mother-in-law, Sheila Chancey of Minford, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Kim (Chris) Brust of Beaver, Ohio and Barbie (Lyle) Ricer of Lucasville, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Kendra Hines, Kacey (Brian) Cutler, Katlin (Cody Boyd) Smalley, Jayla Ricer, Christopher (Jessica) Brust and Damon Campbell; great nieces and nephews, Corbin, Greyson, Kinley, Karley and Camryn; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and camping buddies, Mike, Jackie, Michelle and Wayne. Carl was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Ivy (Pendell) Rider, paternal grandparents, Carl and Myrle (Bobst) Hines and step grandmother, Pauline Hines.

Carl was a boiler engineer at Pixelle, a member of Steel Workers Union Local 731 and Fire Chief for 33 years for the Scioto Township Fire Department.  He was also a former Beaver Squad 3 and Piketon Squad 4 EMS member, a member of Beaver 300 Fire Department and a Pike County Sheriff Auxiliary officer.  Carl was a 4-H advisor and was a 1980 graduate of Eastern High School.  He loved camping with family and friends, cooking and feeding others.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Wayne Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
