Carl M. Mathews, 87, of Waverly, Ohio passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at Adena Pike Medical Center.  He was born May 26, 1935 in Waverly, Ohio to the late Charlie and Mary Perkins Mathews.  On June 2, 1956 he was united in marriage to Greta Leeth Mathews who preceded him in death on May 29, 2013. Surviving are his children, Harold "Joe" V. (Neice) Mathews, Carl Dwayne (Michelle) Mathews, Tresa (Brett) Ward and Loretta (Bruce) Walls; grandchildren, Renee (Wes), Aaron, Jeremy (Samantha), Jenny, Josh (Courtney), Amber, Hunter, Katie, Hannah, Jacob (Atlantis) and Daniel; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Wilma Goble and Barb Keller both of Waverly.  In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 8 siblings.

Carl was on the Pike County Fair Board for 26 years and was advisor of the Newland Ridge Raiders 4-H Club for many years.  He never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Jeremy Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Latham Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 31 ^st at the funeral home.
