Carole Sue Chapman, 78, of Otway, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.  She was born on August 19, 1943 in Cincinnati to the late Wilbur and Dorothy Gries.  On September 26, 1964 she was united in marriage to Earl Chapman who preceded her in death.  Surviving are her children, Flora Chapman of New Boston, Earl David and wife Amy Chapman of Gahanna and Scot Lee Chapman of Otway; grandchildren, Angelika Chapman of Gahanna, Kira Chapman of Gahanna and Katelyn Chapman of Batavia; Brother, John Thomas and wife Jean Gries of Milford and daughter in law, Kimberly Chapman of Batavia.  In addition to her husband and parents, Carole was preceded in death by one son; Daniel Eric Chapman and two brothers; Richard Gries and Charles Gries.

Carole enjoyed riding and training horses and did so until she was 76 years old.  She also enjoyed farming, gardening and canning the vegetables she grew.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
