Carolyn Jean Brown, 83, of Otway, Ohio passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born June 2, 1940 in Scioto County to the late Willard and Muriel Briggs Bennett. On October 7, 1959 she was united in marriage to George Brown who preceded her in death in May of 2011. Surviving are her son, Jody (Angela) Brown of Otway; daughters, Tina Brown of West Union, Ohio, Vicki (Kevin) Seals of McDermott, Ohio and Misty Timberlake of Otway; grandchildren Scott (Sarah) Howard, Aryn (Bradley) Garrett, Devin (Katie) Kremin, Chanan Brown, Kaleb, Makenzie and Sarah Seals; and great-grandchildren, Lily and Jace Howard, Livi Garrett, Kennedy, Isaac and Noah Kremin. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Andy Howard.

Carolyn was a proud grandmother and cherished and loved by all who knew her. She attended Oswego Community Church and was a retired secretary of Northwest Elementary School.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway with Pastor Danny Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6th at the funeral home.
