Cynthia Ann Swafford, 73, of Waverly, Ohio passed away September 4, 2026 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. She was born July 2, 1953 in Waverly, Ohio to the late Foster and Olive Marie Meadows Ward. On November 1, 1980 she was united in marriage to Edward Swafford who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer (Steve) McGarvey; siblings, L.T. (Annie) Ward, Amanda Jane Ward and Virgie McCartney; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by siblings, Doug Ward, John Mitchel Ward, Henry Ward, Sylvia Roberts, Margaret Potter, Charles Ward, James Ward, Andy Ward, Walter Ward and Lizzie Ward.

She was a member of Mary Chapel Church for over 30 years. She loved tending to her flowers and was known for her cooking. She loved spending time with family and always put other people first, and she never left her house empty handed or without a batch of her cookies.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Arvil Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Denver Rd. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
