Delmon Eugene Tackett, 68, of Piketon, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.  He was born May 20, 1953 in Virgie, Kentucky son of the late Sid and Mary Jo Damron Tackett.  On December 16, 1972 Eugene was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Smith Tackett who survives.  Also surviving are a son, Brad Tackett and wife Angie; two brothers, Sam Tackett and Sid Tackett Jr of Beaver, Ohio; four sisters, Reva Mills, Margaret (Mark) Rigsby, Belynda (Larry) Burton and Bessie Kingery all of Beaver and a very special friend that he considered his brother, Terry Congrove of Piketon.  In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by five brothers, Bud, Feddy, Henry, Johnny, Daniel and Mallard Tackett and four sisters, Ethal Mae, Trilla June, Debbie Ann and Elzie Tackett.

Eugene was a former Elm Grove Fire Fighter and Squad 5 driver for 16 years.  He worked for J.W. Smith Lumber, David Smith and Terry Robbins for a total of 30 years.  He retired in 2006 due to health issues.  He was a very hard worker all his life.  Eugene was a loving husband and father and will be sadly missed.  He never met a stranger, always joking and calling people to cheer them up.  He was a member of Riverdale CCCU Church, he always had a testimony for the Lord and a smile on his face.  Eugene loved playing his guitar with the guys at church and going places with his son and daughter-in-law when he was able.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly, Ohio.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral.
