Dewey Lee Tackett II, 55, of Spring Hill, Florida formerly of Waverly passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Adena Pike Medical Center.  He was born February 24, 1969 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Dewey Lee Tackett and Sharon Elizabeth Osborne (Rayce) Pritchett of Chillicothe, Ohio.  Also surviving are his sons, Had'n Tackett of Waverly and Zach Tackett of Waverly; sister, Angie Tackett (Curt) Sparks of St. Cloud, Florida; brother, Justin (Emily Viar) Tackett of Waverly; step-mother, Vickie Tackett of Waverly; niece, Hannah Sparks of St. Cloud, Florida; nephews, Boston Lance Tackett, Saxton Lee Tackett and Bodhi Wayne Tackett; uncles, Carlis Tackett, Grover Tackett and Ervin Tackett; aunts, Penny Montgomery and Anna Lou Hamilton; and a special niece, Amanda Tackett; and many friends and loved ones, a very special crew.  In addition to his father he was preceded in death by uncles and aunts, Phil Osborne, Bobby Tackett, Rebal Havens, Mary Ann Hamilton, Marti Knipp, John Osborne, Ozzy Osborne, Zettie Tackett, Bill Tackett, Dorothy Osborne and Baxter Osborne

Dewey (Bud/Buster) Tackett was the Director of Operations for NexGen Construction Group, LLC but he was way more than that to anyone who interacted with him. His laugh, his infectious smile, his love, his hugs and his life were contagious. He has left behind a legacy of kindness and character no one matches. A father, son, brother, mentor, uncle, friend, a captain (Bud), cousin, pillar, rock, Superman and so much more. His friends were family. The light of any room.

He Learned a great work ethic from his father, who worked in construction most of his adult life.

As a child he loved hauling dirt in his little wagon around the construction site

Learned to run a backhoe at the age of 11 and could clear a construction site by age 15.

Attended Waverly High School where he played football and made lasting friendships.

His high school graduation gift was a new set of Pearl drums, which he learned to play very well.

Received a science fair award, along with his best friend Jamie Phares with their invention of a solar panel.

He loved playing drums with various bands, some of which he put together with friends

He Loved running sound for various bands but most of all for his sister's band Swivel.

No job was too big or too small, from flipping an old home into a gorgeous AirBnB to commercial construction jobs at THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY to a simple table top redo, he would tackle anything.

He Valued friendships more than self.  He Would sleep on the sofa or the floor to give a house guest his bed.

He Would give his last dollar to someone in need, and trust God would meet his.

He Would share his beautiful Florida home with someone who wants to experience a Florida life.

He Loved his Harley and loved sunsets and open beach bars with live music.  Most of all, he loved his sister, his best friend, his brother, mom, his sons, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and more.

A true friend to all who knew him.

He will race the rain, ride the wind, chase the sunset and set the world on fire. In his own words: right now today is really the only real opportunity we have to live…. Whatcha gonna do?

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Roosa officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 18th at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
