Dorothy "Dottie" Alice Smith, 69 of Otway, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at her residence. She was born on July 3, 1954 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Elijah Smith and Virginia Moore Smith. Surviving are her children; Eugene (Paige) Smith, Regina Lafferty, Amy (Mike) Showalter, Chuckie (Angela) Bentley, Bobby Allen, Buggie Smith, Joey Smith, and James (Amy) Scaff and Phyliss Schmidbaer; grandchildren, Aleigha, Jaden, Abel, Faith, Elisa, Alyson, Levi, Ashley, Tori, Becky, Jeri, Taunya, Kaylee, Nick and Rebecca; multiple great grandchildren; siblings, David (Jane) Smith, Mary (Albert) Reed and Linda Castle, and special friend Steve Boldman. In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband; Marion Eugene Lafferty; children, Sean Smith, Dennis Cochran and infant son Cole; siblings, Elsie Rosielee Pickard, Sarah Ethel Gilbert, Ralph Smith, James Smith and Lester Smith; brother-in-law Carl Castle and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.  Burial will follow at Smith Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
