Dorothy Irene "Dottie" Lightle, 84, of Waverly, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Piketon Nursing Center in Piketon, Ohio.  She was born August 5, 1939 in Pike County, Ohio daughter of the late Paul Joseph Grooms and Margaret Viar Crabtree.  On August 24, 1957 she was united in marriage to Richard Norman Lightle who survives.  Also surviving are her sons, Ed (Angie) Lightle, Jeff (Joanie) Lightle and Greg Lightle; grandchildren, Carrie Ricer, Mandy (Curt) Scott, Chris (Mariah) Moore, Calli (Daniel) Willis, Andrew Lightle, Austin Lightle, Brendan (Brittany) Walker, Madison (Dalton) Skaggs, Coleton Lightle, Kailey Horn, Logan Lightle, Scott (Lea) Lightle, Grace Lightle, Nic Lightle, and Jenna Lightle; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Joseph Grooms and Jim (Debbie) Grooms and sisters, Judy Massie and Karen Grooms.  In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, John Darren Lightle and a brother, Bill Grooms.

Dottie was a retired cook from Western High School.  She was a member of Bond's Chapel CCCU where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2023 at Bond's Chapel CCCU with Pastor Bruce Viar officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardner Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
