Gary Leroy Crabtree, 80 of Waverly, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Adena Pike Medical Center.  He was born on November 15, 1942 in Portsmouth to the late Crawford Crabtree and Alma Katherine Mullins Crabtree.  On October 7, 2000 he was united in marriage to Sondra Sowers Crabtree.  In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his children; Michael Crabtree of New Boston and Bryan (Ursula) Crabtree of Chillicothe; stepson, Darin Dorr of Pleasantville, Ohio; sisters; Rozanne (Roy) McCall of Lucasville, Carolyn (Paul) Crabtree of Lucasville and Donna Gregory of Lucasville; grandchildren, Peyton (Pernia) Crabtree, Meghan Crabtree, and Greg Taylor; great grandchildren, Arik Crabtree, Rylee Nicinsky, Maverick Crabtree, Mia Crabtree and Daniella Partin; several nieces and nephews and step grandchildren, Jacob Gerber, Derek Anthony, Sydney Dorr and Dylan Anthony. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Crabtree and his brother-in-law, Paul Gregory.

Gary was a retired officer from Waverly Police Department with over 40 years of service, was a beloved member of his community and a member of the local tractor club.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Black officiating with burial to follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Denver Road.  Visitation will be on Sunday, October 1 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service on Monday.
