Everett Gene Crabtree, 92, of Lucasville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio.  He was born August 7, 1929 in Morgan Township, Ohio to the late Birchard and Blanche Lute Crabtree. On October 4, 1947 Gene was united in marriage to Roberta "Jackie" Crabtree who preceded him in death on March 14, 2021.  Surviving are three daughters, Beverly Stevens of Portsmouth, Susan (Steve) Gray of Minford and Marianne (Ed) Swanner of Washington Court House; 15 grandchildren, Melissa Dell, Christopher Crabtree, Terri Scott, Tommie Bell, Crystal Bell, Michael "Mickey" Crabtree, Steven "Stevie" Gray, Brandon Gray, David Gray, Art Swanner, Matthew Swanner, Brandon Swanner, Andrew Watts, Tyler Swanner and Dylan Swanner Craft; 25 great-grandchildren,  4 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Platzer.  In addition to his parents and wife Gene was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Michael; brothers, Gilbert Crabtree, Wilbert Crabtree, Victor Crabtree and Robert Crabtree; and sisters, Lena and Madelyn (McCorkle).

Gene was a member of Pleasant Valley Community of Christ Church.  He retired from Waller Brothers Stone Quarry in 1992 after 47 years. For many years he had a TV repair shop.  Gene played baseball, pitched horseshoes and coached Little League.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Community of Christ Church with Daron Lilly assisted by Phil Crabtree and Jeff Mitchell officiating.  Burial will follow at Rockwell Cemetery in Lucasville.  Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.
