Homer Lee Smith, 66, of Waverly, Ohio passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at home. He was born December 16, 1955 in Waverly, Ohio son of the late Calvin and Mable Dawson Smith. On May 11, 1979 he was united in marriage to Jean Bond Smith who survives. Also surviving are three children, Tabitha (Chris) Thoroughman of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Bryan Smith of Waverly and Natalie Bryant also of Waverly; nine grandchildren, McKayla Smith, Keagan Smith, Carson Thoroughman, Kloey Thoroughman, Jaden Burden, Kellan Smith, Lincoln Burden, Cannon Thoroughman and Camden Thoroughman; a great granddaughter, Myla Lambert; a sister, Ruth (Ervin) Tackett of Piketon, Ohio; a nephew, Joey Tackett and three nieces, Jodi Barker, Victoria Martin and Amanda Tackett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Smith; a sister, Anna Conn; a niece, Stacey Conn Marshall and a son-in-law, Jedidiah Bryant.
Homer retired from the U.S. Army. After serving his country he also retired as a truck driver.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at New Covenant Church of Christ in Christian Union with Melody Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Bridge Street in Waverly. Family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at the church.
