James Edward Brodess, 84, of Piketon, Ohio passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.  He was born November 1, 1936 in Piketon, Ohio to the late John Erskin Brodess and Flora Louise Knight Brodess.  On November 9, 1963 he was united in marriage to Donna Brownfield Brodess who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, Tana (Steven) Brodess Heisey of Union, Ohio and Melissa (Kevin Smith) Brodess Woodyard of Chillicothe; two sons, Greg (Gwen) Brodess of Lucasville and Brian (Tammy) Brownfield of Piketon; grandchildren, Lindsay Rutter, Kaley Montavon, Taylor Brownfield, Alexandria Heisey, Mackenzie Brodess, Logan Woodyard, Niklas Heisey, Hunter Brodess and Piper Brodess; great-grandchildren, Cloe Michaels, and Ezra, Knox and Ember Montavon; a sister, Bonnie (Glen) Meadows; and a brother, Oran Brodess.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John David Brodess.

Jim worked as meat cutter at Ritchie's in Piketon where he retired after 35 years.  After retirement he enjoyed substituting as a janitor for Scioto Valley Local School District in Piketon.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Mound Cemetery in Piketon, Ohio.
