James Alton Gillum, 79, of Waverly, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Adena Regional Medical Center.  He was born on June 2, 1941 in Waverly to the late Richard Gillum and Lora Seagraves Gillum.  Surviving is one daughter; Nancy Brown and her husband Tim of Grove City, Ohio; four grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Gillum of Terre Haute, Indiana and one sister, Verna Sheets of Waverly.  In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one son; Jason Todd Brown and one sister Maeoma Oty.

James was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War.  From 1967 until September 11, 2001 he worked as a corrections officer at Chillicothe Correctional Institute.
