James "Jimmy" "JJ" Howard Jenkins, 66 of Rarden, passed away at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington West Virginia on Saturday, December 16, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1956 to the late Howard Jenkins and Lynn Moore Purtee. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Ted Purtee. Surviving are his brothers; Joe Jenkins of Pike County and Stanley Purtee of Rarden; nephews, Mark Moore of Otway and Justin Eugene Adams of McDermott; nieces, Kimberly Rene Adams of Lucasville and Rachel Nicole Purtee of North Carolina; cousin, Vicky Holley of Portsmouth and brother-in-law, Tony Moore of McDermott. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Jimmy was preceded in death by one brother; Theodore Purtee; sister, Sheryl Moore; uncle, Ron Holley and many friends

Jimmy served in the United States Army and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors riding his motorcycle and helping others. He was a logger by trade.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.  Burial will follow at Newman Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home.
