James Robert Lathrop, 67, of Ripley, Ohio passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Hospice of Hope in Maysville, Kentucky.  He was born September 6,1956 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late James Paul and Betty Lou Ivers Lathrop.  Surviving are his longtime girlfriend, Carla Pritchett of Ripley; children, Uriah Lathrop of Ripley, Briana Pritchett of Wilmington, Ohio, Jamie Lee Pritchett of Wilmington, Cody Lathrop of Ripley and John Paul Lathrop of Ripley; grandchildren, Devin Jordan, Caleb Lathrop, Alyssa Wright, King Price, Kate Hardy, Nyla Smith, Branson Smith and Adrienne Smith; siblings, Dana (John Howard) Lathrop of Portsmouth, David (Trula) Lathrop of Bastian, Virginia, Paula Lodwick of Chilhowie, Virginia and Karen (Ed) Freeman of Palmetto, Florida; and an aunt, Jan Ivers of Portsmouth.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Lee Lathrop and an aunt, Sandra Kuntz.

James was a 1974 graduate of Portsmouth West High School, was employed by Green Tokai LTD in Maysville and he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway with Ray Lute officiating.  Burial will follow in East Liberty Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
