Jerome Leonard Gordon, 90, of Waverly passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at his home.  He was born November 15, 1930 in Lorain, Ohio to the late Meyer Isaac Gordon and Grace Evangeline Leonard Gordon.  On March 15, 1954 he was united in marriage to Wilma Jo Yancey Gordon who survives.  Also surviving are a daughter, Leslie (Kirk) Pearson of Lake Stevens, Washington; a son, Joel (Robin) Gordon of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Carl and Micah Pearson and Breianne Comer; great-grandchildren, Finn and Ryder Comer; a sister, Greta Gordon of San Francisco, California; a cousin, Barbara Tomford of Olympia, Washington; and a sister-in-law, Linda Gordon of Lorain, Ohio.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Gordon.

Jerome was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of Toast Masters.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  Jerome earned a Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University and a Master's from Xavier University.  He was a 5 ^th and 6 ^th grade teacher and also served as a guidance counselor for the Chillicothe City School District.  He was a genealogist, an avid gardener and enjoyed dancing, golfing, small game hunting, hiking, traveling the world, his children and his grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Denver Road in Waverly.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 104 South High St, Waverly, Ohio 45690.
