Jesse Milton Woods, 84 of Otway, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.  He was born on May 10, 1941 in Portsmouth to the late Jesse "Red" Milton Woods and Doris Geneva Smith.  Surviving are his children; Linda (Jay) Woods Jones of Portsmouth and Phyllis (Jeffrey) Shirey of Otway; grandchildren; Michael (Jennifer) Wamsley, David Mays, Jesse (Courtney) Mays, Jaymes Jones, Brett (Kristina) Cassidy, Brandon (Alex) Shirey, Joseph (Brynn) Jones, Eun Hae (Nick) Salanoa, Jay (Govanna) Jones, Jee Hae (Chad) Hill, Andrew Jones, John Jones and Jessica Groves and 18 great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his daughter; Brenda Lee Woods and the mother of his children, Eleanor James Lane.

Jesse was a member of the first graduating class at Northwest High School in 1959.  He was retired from Empire Detroit Steel and retired as a boiler operator in the maintenance department at Northwest Local School District.  In his spare time, Jesse enjoyed attending car shows and rebuilding cars to flip and trade.  He also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway with Pastor Danny Powell officiating.  Burial will follow in Koenig Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
