Joseph Edgar Sears, 54 of Waverly, Ohio passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 5, 1968 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Robert H. Sears and Patricia F. Bandy Sears. On August 19, 1988 he was united in marriage to Krissy McLeod Sears who survives. Also surviving are his children, Sarah (Ethan) Harris of Piketon, Ohio, Allie (Travis Crawford) Sears of Laurelville, Ohio, River (Katelyn Grimm) Sears of Kingston, Ohio and Brandon (Rachel Crabtree) Castle of Clarksburg, Ohio; two brothers, Stephen (Dawn) Holton of Waverly and Robert (Beth) Sears of Waverly; a sister, Kim Colburn of Waverly; and brother-in-law, Dave Keim of Waverly; twelve grandchildren, Beau, Harlyn, Holyn, Karlee, Kynna, Kierston, Kinzlee, Josie Rose, Jayden, Braylon, Landon and Aria. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by three sisters, Wendy Keim, Pamela Pfeifer and Robin Horsley; brother, Mark Sears and nephew Shane Holton.

Joseph worked at Pixelle formerly Mead in Chillicothe, Ohio for over 30 years, where he made some of his best friends; Roger White, Bud Christman, Marty Osbourne and Brian Brumfield to name a few. Joseph was a dedicated outdoorsman who loved to share his knowledge and passion with all around him. He spent his life devoted to his family. Joe was thoughtful, warm, generous and welcoming, regardless if you were family, a friend or even a stranger.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
