Julia McGowan, 82 of Piketon, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at her home.  She was born on November 29, 1941 in Idaho, Ohio, daughter of the late Given and Laura Lightle Pollard.  She was united in marriage on October 27, 1962 to Albert McGowan who preceded her in death on July 23, 1997.  Surviving are daughters, Cindy Kneisley and Mary May both of Piketon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Daniel and Lindsay Kneisley, Laura McGowan and Chris May, eleven grandchildren, Landon, Layla, Ryleigh Kneisley, Haylee and Tyler Sandlin, Trevor, Connor, Paiton and Dominic May and Kaiden and Kendall Cox; sisters, Edith Dewey, Betty Scowden and Lois Pollard.  In addition to her parents and husband, Julia was preceded in death by a son, William Ray McGowan and grandson, Michael Allen May.

She retired from Kmart and Walmart and was a member of Smith Chapel Church and sang in their choir.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Smith Chapel CCCU with Dave Marhoover officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Latham Cemetery in Waverly, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
