Obituary

Linda Kay Brown, 75, of Waverly, Ohio, died Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Adena Regional Medical Center. Linda was born February 3, 1949 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Opal Jackson Brown. She is survived by her sister, Susan Huffman and brother-in-law, John Huffman, Jr., nephew, John Huffman III and niece, Brittany (Thomas) Able, and great nephews and niece, Oakley, Ezra, and Atlas Able.

Linda was a lifelong member of Waverly Grace United Methodist Church. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1967 and loved planning and attending her class reunions every 5 years. She was a proud Waverly band alumna. She earned her bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University and her master's degree from Miami University. For over 35 years, she taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grades in Scioto Valley Local Schools and continued to teach as a substitute teacher until 2022. Her passion was teaching children to read and write. She taught hundreds of students and loved them all. She continued to support them in their academic, musical, and athletic achievements and loved following the FaceBook posts of her former students and their families.

Linda was always on the go, traveling to athletic events, dance recitals, concerts, and musical productions. She was continually planning her next vacation! Although Linda didn't have children of her own, she was an honorary aunt to many, a Go to Granny to 5 special girls, and loved her two dogs, Molly and Murphy. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the Grace United Methodist Church family life center, 108 S. High Street, Waverly, OH.
