Mary Evelyn Wilson VanMeter, 100, of Piketon, Ohio passed away November 12, 2025 at her home. She was born October 1, 1925 in Yellow Springs, Ohio to the late Elwood and Josephine Appleby Wilson. On June 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to Donald I VanMeter who preceded her in death on June 7, 1986. Surviving are her daughters, Dolly (Roger) Rardain of Fairborn, Ohio and Vicki VanMeter of Circleville, Ohio; grandchildren, Angelica (Brian) Friedrich, Clarissa Rardain, Rebekah Mears (David Maxson and Benjamin (Daisee) Mears; and great-grandchildren, Drew Maxson and Benson Mears and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth Wilson, Iva Jean Barnett, Ruth Shields, Martha June Isennagle, Emma Wilson, Scott Wilson and Elwood Wilson.

Mary was a retired teacher and librarian from the Western Local School District.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Adam Leavitt officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
