Michael L. Howard, Sr., 68, unexpectedly passed from this life on December 23, 2022. He was born August 2, 1954, in Alma, Ohio to the late Odie Howard and Patricia Gibson. He leaves behind his dearly loved family. His children, daughter, Shelly J. (Howard) and husband Greg Anderson, Waverly, Ohio; son, Michael L. Howard, Jr. and wife, Stella, Chillicothe, Ohio. Mike had three grandsons, Koty A. Anderson and wife, Makayla of Groveport, Ohio; Kaleb M. Anderson of Waverly, Ohio and Jordan M. Howard Pendleton and wife, McKaylee of Piketon, Ohio. Mike and former spouse, Paula McGraw Howard raised their two children together. They loved and adored Shelly and Mike, though the relationship was not permanent they remained friends. His siblings, Christine Howard, Hallsville, Ohio; Frank Schoolcraft and wife, Robin, Peebles, Ohio; Peggy (Schoolcraft) Harris and husband, Dan, Phoenix, Arizona; Donald Schoolcraft, Hallsville, Ohio. Many other special family members and friends. Mike was a retired ASE Certified Master Mechanic. He worked at McAllister Chevrolet as the Service Manager starting in 1980 and remained with the family-owned business for over 30 years before retiring. He loved his many employees and customers throughout those years. Mike enjoyed many different competitive hobbies during his life. Practicing and competing in karate tournaments and go-cart racing with his son, Mike. Stock car racing and building race car engines was a passion and many hours were spent with his family and friends in many garages and at many racetracks. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Paul Schoolcraft.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Jeff Blakeman officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles in Waverly after the service.
