Paul Edward Long, Jr, 83 of McDermott, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his residence.  He was born on September 27, 1939 in Portsmouth to the late Paul Edward Long, Sr. and Margaret Flemming Long.  He was united in marriage to Jeanette Faye Mains Long who preceded him in death on June 13, 2016.  Surviving is his daughter; Paula (Steve) Strunk of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Lisa Long of Wheelersburg; grandchildren, Cole Long, Matthew P. Strunk, Colin J. Long and Callie Long and sister; Phyllis Mains of West Portsmouth.  In addition to his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by his son, Edward J. Long.

Paul was a Major in the United State Marine Corps, having served from 1962 until his retirement in 1983.

Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.  Services have been entrusted to Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.
