Richard Dean Rundels, 86, of Waverly, died Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Bristol Village, Waverly, following an extended illness. He was born December 26, 1937 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late William C. and Lucille McNeal Rundels.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Violet Rundels.

Surviving are a son, Todd R. Rundels of Chillicothe; a daughter, Rhonda (Robert) Schuler of Chillicothe; grandsons, whom he was so proud of Ben (Alicia) Schuler, Boston, MA and Seth (Emily) Schuler of Hoonah, Alaska; two great granddaughters, Linnea and Kaia Schuler of Boston, MA. He is also survived by stepdaughters, Dinah Cline, of Naples, FL; Lois (Matt) Finley, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Shirley (Ronald) Watters of London, Ohio.

Dick was a wonderful man of God, who was such a good role model. He was a member of New Covenant Church. He also had a great work ethic, having retired from Chilpaco (Mead Paper). After retirement he served as a Hospice volunteer, receiving the top volunteer (in the whole nation) award from National Church Residences. He also received the Pike County Senior Citizen of the Year award. Dick was very proud to have served his country as a Marine.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Girdley, Chaplain at Bristol Village officiating.  Family will receive friends on Tuesday from with 12 - 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio.
