Richard Dale Scowden, 78, of Piketon, Ohio went home to His Savior on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 surrounded by his family.  He was born on November 1, 1944 in Pike County, Ohio son of the late William Branson Scowden and Olive Juanita Woods Scowden.  On May 1, 2004 he was united in marriage to Bertha Irene Scowden who survives.  Also surviving are a son, Tommie Scowden and his wife Jamie of Hicksville, Ohio; a step-son, John Rexroad, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Waverly, Ohio; a step-daughter, Deborah Kiser and husband Chris of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Sharon Williams and husband Terry of Peebles, Ohio; grandson, Richard Scowden; granddaughter, Emma Scowden; step-grandchildren, Trent, Faith, Hope (Austin) and Noah; and a great grandson, Brayden.

Richard was a machinist, he attended Mt. Holy Church of Christ in Christian Union for the last several years and served his country in the National Guard Reserves.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Dave Roosa officiating.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Piketon with military honors provided by American Legion Merritt Post 142 of Waverly.  Family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
