Richard B. Shaw was born June 18, 1937 to the late G. Wayne Shaw and Julia E. Shaw (Harble) in Logan, Ohio where he graduated from Logan High School in 1955. Richard, known by many as Dick, married L. Jane Ruff on July 12, 1959. He served in the Ohio National Guard during his early adult years. He enjoyed his work as a meat cutter at Kroger for 41 years, working at stores in Logan, Portsmouth, and Waverly, Ohio. After retiring from Kroger, he continued to enjoy working with the public at Sears and Lowe's in Chillicothe where he put his knowledge of tools and home improvement to work. He had a good time visiting with customers and joking around to lighten up the work day. Richard always enjoyed good food, wine, woodworking, beautiful sunsets from his deck, and was devoted to his church membership. Richard has been a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod throughout his adult life, most recently as a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Ohio.

Richard died peacefully on June 10, 2024 after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, L. Jane Shaw (Ruff) of Chillicothe; son, Keith (Cheryl) Shaw of Piketon, Ohio; daughter Anne Zeigler (Shannon) of Lorton, VA; granddaughters Abby Toohey (Andrew), Ally Shaw, and Meredith Zeigler; grandson Blake Zeigler.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Mark Raddatz officiating.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Piketon, Ohio.  Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or memorial donations may be sent in memory of Richard to Emmanual Lutheran Church, 231 E. Mulberry St, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
