Obituary

Robert (Bob) Paul Slaughter, 73 of Franklin Furnace, Ohio went home to be with his Lord on November 5, 2026. He was born on February 20,1953 in Ironton, Ohio to the late Reverend Harry Slaughter and Mildred Ritter-Slaughter.

Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his cherished brother James (Jim) Slaughter, father-in-law Emil Thornsberry, brother-in-law Buryl Wheeler, and sister-in-law, Micheal Ann Thornsberry.

He always was a husband and father first, but in his life, he wore many different hats. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a mechanic and lineman for the Ashland, Kentucky GTE/Verizon, and his garage at home was a fun meeting place to fix many a friends' broken vehicles and just hang out.

Bob had a wandering heart and loved to travel to all the lower 48 states and explore this wonderful country that we live in. His son and daughter-in-law introduced him to Montana and he fell in love immediately. To him, it was "Heaven on Earth".

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Sue Thornsberry, whom he married on April10, 1976. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. He was loved by many and protective of all of those that he loved. He was always the first to help his children in any way that he could.

He leaves behind, with heavy hearts, his four children that he loved more than his words could ever say; Kimberly Slaughter (Kelly) Hannah of West Portsmouth, Ohio, Ryan (Sonia Llacer) Slaughter of Franklin Furnace, Ohio and Denia, Spain, Jennifer (Ryan) Klaiber, of Pedro, Ohio, Julie (Brandon) Walker of Ironton, Ohio.

He loved his children, but his 12 grandchildren could do no wrong in his eyes. If you disagreed with this, he was happy to work with you to change your mind. He poured all of his heart into Shane, Lauren, Olivia, Adaline, Gloria, Kirra, Bearyn, Rowyn, Braylon, Bralie, Beckham, and Brielle.

He also leaves behind his beloved sisters; Carol Wheeler of Chillicothe (formally from Wheelersburg, Ohio and Nina (Jim) Large, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and his sister-in-law Joanne Slaughter-Black, of Haverhill, Ohio. His extended family always claimed him as their own. He will be greatly missed by; Cheryl (Mike) Brown, of McDermott, Ohio, Jim Thornsberry, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Sandy (Denny) May, of Minford, Ohio, Lisa (Jason Gammon, of Greenup, Kentucky, and Emily (Aaron) Blizzard, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio. He has so many nieces and nephews that held a place in his heart and he will forever hold place in theirs.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 4 p.m. for family members and friends at Dogwood Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union in Wheelersburg, Ohio. Please come and help us celebrate his life.
