Rodney Allen Bumgardner, 70 of Waverly, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born on March 27, 1953 in Peebles to the late Roy E Bumgardner and Ola M Cotrill.  On November 4, 1970, he was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart Nancy Lou Royster.  In addition to his wife, Rodney is survived by his children: Andrea Lee Bumgardner of Waverly and Rocky Allen (Stori) Bumgardner of Waverly; grandchildren, Reece (Nellie) Bumgardner, Rayden Bumgardner, Ramsey Bumgardner, Riley Bumgardner, Rodney Bumgardner, Reed Bumgardner, Sienna Bumgardner and Zachary Allen Bumgardner; great grandchildren, Huntleigh and Ian; sisters, Evelyn Martin, Ruby Simpson, Ruth Fillmore and Doris Skaggs; brothers, Ray (Suzi) Bumgardner, Roger Bumgardner and Russell Bumgardner; brothers and sisters in law, Ron (Peg) Royster and Anna (Neil) Lawson; several nieces and nephews and many good friends.  In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by siblings; Roy John Bumgardner, Norma Moore and Janet Bumgardner.

Rodney was a believer in Jesus our Savior and when he attended church he attended the CCCU.  He was an avid classic car enthusiast and enjoyed going to classic car shows.  He was especially loved by the Buchanan community and was considered the unofficial Mayor of Buchanan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Leeth officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt Latham Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
