Steven W. Locke, age 74 of Piketon, Ohio passed peacefully on a ray of sunshine at 5:00 pm on March 3, 2023. He passed at his home surrounded by his family after suffering from a long illness. Steve was born April 2, 1948 at Ladd Ridge, Ohio to Estle Paul and Geneva Blanch (Mossbarger) Locke. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Marilyn Rose (Kellough) Locke on December 31, 1970 who survives. Also surviving is one son Steven "Donnie" Donald Locke and his wife Lana Kay of Waverly, Ohio, one granddaughter Lorianda "Punky" Don (Locke) Bohl and husband Terry of Mount Orab, Ohio, one great-granddaughter that he waited anxiously to be born before he left this world, Lilliana Rose Bohl of Mount Orab Ohio, two brothers John W. Locke and wife Sylvia of Springfield Ohio as well as Roy E. Locke of Pomona Park, Florida, one brother-in-law Jimmy Kellough of Chillicothe, Ohio, and two nieces and two nephews as well as their spouses and children. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by one sister Martha Sue (Susy) Locke, two sisters-in-law Betty Locke and Sally Locke, one nephew, his father and mother-in-law Glenn and Rosa Kellough, and one sister-in-law Linda Kellough.
Steve served in the United States Army as an E5 Sargent from 1968-1970. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He worked from 1974-2018 at the Atomic Plant as an electrician. In 2018 he retired from the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. After retirement Steve "Pappy" spent his time with his wife and family working, building, and tinkering while drinking a hot cup of coffee in his big red barn that he was so proud of.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Piketon with military honors provided by American Legion Merritt Post #142. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
