Thomas Howard Maggard was born in Pound, Virginia on March 31, 1929 to the late Calvin and Marjorie (Short) Maggard.  He was united in marriage to Lucinda Mae Hampton on December 1, 1950.  He is survived by his wife; son, Thomas (Jane) Maggard, Jr. of Waverly; daughters, Patricia (Jeff) Rhoads of Waverly, Deborah (Earl) Swepston of Waverly and Elizabeth (John) Cottrill of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Tammy (Jason) Foster, Katie (Nick) Courtright, Morgan Penwell, Lindsay Swepston (Tim DeMint), Chris (Paige) Cottrill, Corey (Allison) Cottrill; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Eva) Maggard of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; sisters, Marjorie (John) Heigl of Florida and Linda Murray of Louisville, Kentucky; and brother and sister in law, Clifford (Wilma) Hampton; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Maggard; brother, Gene Maggard; and brother-in-law, John Murray.

Tom retired after 38 years of service at the A-plant in Piketon, Ohio in 1992. He worked as a chemical operator and retired as a supervisor of the IHHP group.

He was a long time member of Pleasant Hill Community Church where he served in many offices.

He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

He loved the Lord and he loved his family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Jeff Rhoads officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Bridge Street in Waverly.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
