Vivian Hester Yates, 82, of Piketon, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at her home.  She was born December 17, 1939 in Vinton County, Ohio to the late Walter and Mauldie Zornes Cartee.  In 1959 she was united in marriage to Allen Yates who preceded her in death.  Surviving are a son, Fred Yates of Piketon; a daughter, Lorinda Yates of Piketon; 7 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leona Maynard of Hamden, Garnet Daft, Minnie Collins, Alma Peoples and Marcella Lafferty all of McArthur; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Jewett; granddaughter, Misty Stevens; grandson, Shane Yates; and a daughter-in-law, Judith Yates.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 17, 2022 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly.  Burial will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
